The father did not say, could not even express it, but his untold love opened up in lockdown.|पिता कहते नहीं थे , जता भी नहीं पाते थे , लेकिन उनका अनकहा प्यार लॉकडाउन में खुल गया ।

 The phone rang continuously in me.  Sumi came out of the kitchen frantically wiping her hands, and started picking up the phone to say hello in the fret, then there came Papa's bewildered voice, 'What happened son, is everything right?  Took so long to pick up the phone.  Sumi said softly after hearing Papa's voice, "Yes Papa, everything is fine."  That Vijayji and the children are playing carrom in the upstairs room and I was cooking in the kitchen, so it was late to pick up the phone.  Papa said, 'Okay, I keep it.  Sumi started thinking on keeping the phone, are they the same fathers, whom she was very afraid of as a child.  Although he did not scold her a lot but never used to love her openly.  Sumi and her brother were as close to their mother as they were away from their father.  Father did not talk to them much, just occasionally asked about his studies.  Sometimes even taking them out to wash, Sumi was married in her own city when the two brothers and sisters grew up to make everything from their mother and the brother settled in Dubai with his family.

 Even after marriage, when Sumi would go to her maternal home, there was only formal talk with father.  But when she sees her children, how much they are like their father and shares everything with them as a friend, then there is a feeling in her heart that I wish her father would be like this.  But ever since this lockdown started and everyone is imprisoned in their homes, every other day Sumi's father calls her and asks about her health.  Even if it is too late to pick up the phone, then Dhawaara rises in fear of something untoward.  Now Sumi began to understand the love of her father.  He came to know that his father also loves him very much, just that he never expressed his love.  Now she is waiting for when the lockdown is over and she once hugs her father and tells him, 'I love you father.  '

में फोन की घंटी लगातार बज रही थी । सुमि झल्लाती हुई किचन से हाथ पोंछती हुई आई और फोन उठाकर झल्लाहट में ही हैलो बोलने लगी , तभी उधर से पापा की घबराई हुई आवाज आई , ' क्या हुआ बेटा , सब ठीक तो है ना ? फोन उठाने में इतनी देर लगा दी । ' पापा की आवाज सुनते ही सुमि धीरे से बोली , ' हां पापा , सब ठीक है । वो विजयजी और बच्चे ऊपर वाले कमरे में कैरम खेल रहे हैं और मैं रसोई में खाना बना रही थी , इसलिए फोन उठाने में देर हो गई । ' पापा ने कहा , ' ठीक है , रखता हूं । ' फोन रखकर सुमि सोचने लगी , क्या ये वही पापा हैं , जिनसे वह बचपन में बहुत डरती थी । हालांकि वो उसे खूब डांटते नहीं थे लेकिन कभी खुलकर प्यार भी नहीं करते थे । सुमि और उसका भाई जितने अपनी मां के करीब थे , उतने ही अपने पापा से दूर थे । पापा उनसे ज्यादा बात नहीं करते थे , बस कभी - कभार उनकी पढ़ाई के बारे में पूछ लेते थे । कभी उन्हें बाहर धुमाने भी ले जाते , तो दोनों भाई - बहन अपनी मां से ही हर चीज की फ़रमाइश करते बड़े होने पर सुमि की शादी अपने ही शहर में हो गई थी और भाई अपने परिवार के साथ दुबई सेटल हो गया था ।

शादी होने के बाद भी जब - जब सुमि मायके जाती तो पापा से औपचारिक बात ही होती थी । पर जब अपने बच्चों को देखती कि वो अपने पिता के कितने करीव हैं और उनसे भी हर बात एक दोस्त की तरह शेयर करते हैं तो उसके दिल में टीस उठती कि काश , उसके पापा भी उसके साथ ऐसे ही रहते । पर इधर जब से ये लॉकडाउन शुरू हुआ और सब लोग अपने घरों में कैद हो गए तब से हर दूसरे दिन सुमि के पापा उसे फोन करते हैं और उसके हालचाल पूछते हैं । फोन उठाने में जरा - सी भी देर हो जाती है तो किसी अनहोनी की आशंका में धवरा उठते हैं । अब सुमि को अपने पापा का प्यार समझ में आने लगा था । उसे पता चल गया था कि उसके पापा भी उसे बहुत प्यार करते हैं , बस उन्होंने कभी अपने प्यार को जताया नहीं । अब वह इंतजार कर रही कि कब लॉकडाउन खत्म हो और वो एक बार अपने पापा से गले मिलकर उनसे कहे , ' आई लव यू पापा । '
